What is Ollin?
Ollin is the American system for digiscoping: taking photos and videos with your smartphone through a spotting scope or binoculars. It solves the age-old problem of lining up your phone's camera with the eyepiece, quickly and without shake, right when the animal is in front of you.
It was born from a missed opportunity. Founder Nathan Goodworth was hunting bighorn sheep in the Lost River Mountains, at nearly 3,000 metres, when he spotted a big ram. By the time he had mounted his phone on the optic, the animal was gone. That frustration led to the Snapshot system, designed to take you from observing to shooting in an instant. The name comes from an ancient Aztec word meaning to move and act with full passion and purpose.
How it works
A custom-fit adapter with 4 magnets sits on the eyepiece of your spotting scope or binoculars. On the back of your phone, right over the camera, are 4 matching magnets: built into the Ollin case or into the universal adhesive plate. Bring the phone to the eyepiece and it aligns itself, centred and stable, even if you place it roughly. To remove it, just pull it away. The adapter can stay on the eyepiece while you observe, without narrowing the field of view.
Why it's different
- SpeedFrom observing to shooting in seconds: no clamps to tighten, no lining up the camera by eye.
- PrecisionThe adapter is made for your specific optic, not a one-size-fits-all. The image stays centred, with no vignetting.
- StabilityThe phone stays firmly on the eyepiece even at high magnification, where every vibration shows.
- One phone, several opticsThe same case or plate works with every Ollin adapter: for your scope and binoculars you only need one adapter each.
Case or plate: which one?
- iPhone 12 to 17 (including 16e and 17e), iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S21 to S26 (including Plus and Ultra): we recommend the Ollin case, which you use every day like a normal case.
- iPhone Pro and Pro Max: the case is required, because the cameras protrude from the body.
- All other smartphones: use the universal adhesive plate, on one condition: the cameras must sit flush with the case, not raised.
Fits almost every quality optic
Ollin makes adapters for the leading spotting scopes and binoculars: Leica, Swarovski, Zeiss, Kowa, Vortex, Leupold, Meopta, Hawke, Nikon, Sig Sauer and more, including older models such as the Leica Televid 62 and 77. The configurator only offers verified combinations. If your optic isn't listed, we'll check the eyepiece diameter and find the right adapter for you.
